I had been looking forward to the spell for a long time and it only recently dawned on me that it takes a minute to cast since I was so used to my parties druid being able to cast Conjure Animals with 1 action. We usually just get maybe one smaller encounter and a big boss encounter that we don't know exactly when it is coming before it happens(9/10 times) once a day when we are dungeon crawling.

I know that second bit varies from campaign to campaign but the campaign I'm playing in hasn't had a long dungeon crawl full of many small encounters in 4+ months.

It takes a minute to cast so it's not combat viable but it only lasts for an hour which means it could expire before you encounter anything.
